Every summer I take a drive over there just to take in it's charming qualities. It was probably built after Hurricane Carol in 1954 and never maintained. I let my mind wander and picture a young family having fun by the water with just a little spot of heaven for the weekends.
I was happily surprised that someone had painted the shutters crayola green with whales on them. I wonder who it was...the owner? a neighbor? I think it was the latter. I have never seen anyone here and by the looks of the grounds, there aren't any paths down to the beach. I couldn't even get to the back of the cottage to take a pic.
See the shells on the window sill? They've been there since I first found it...
Notice the one shutter on this window and one on the window on the other side. (first photo) Beachy folks have a way of making due...
How cute. I wonder who painted the shutters?? Maybe someone else like you who loves to come and look at the cottage. Is the inside decorated?

hmmm...I wonder what the inside looks like. I imagine it was just left and frozen in time. This would be a fun restoration project! Thanks for the comments girls! xo
ReplyDeleteOoh Roberta, I want to be there! What a darling little hideaway... and yes, I see kitty hiding among the plants, she thinks you cannot see her... I am going to email you a cute kitty hiding on our walk, but I spotted her too... Do you dare venture inside one day??? That would be so much fun! And the seashells in the window... perhaps "someone" long gone still watches over their little hideaway... I believe they do that, even after they have passed on, especially a place they would have loved so much like that one...
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!...That is SO cool Roberta!...I LOVE little cottages like that...Imagine all the fun that families had way back then ....right on the water...in a little beach shack...bonfires on the beach...falling asleep listening to the waves...sigh...Your pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!...Big Hugs!!!...Lizzie
ReplyDeleteI love little cottages and have always dreamed of living in one. The only problem is I would never be able to fit all my stuff in it and by stuff I mean mostly shells!
ReplyDeleteWaterside Wednesday is such fun. Love the beach shack. It is amazing how there are so many different beach shacks/huts.
